Some people have to pay a healthcare surcharge as part of their immigration application. Earlier this year it was  announced that health and care workers will now be exempt and will be reimbursed any surcharge they have paid since 31 March 2020.

The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) Reimbursement scheme has now launched.

If you have worked in the NHS or care sector for at least six months commencing on or after 31 March 2020, you may now be able to claim reimbursement for yourself and your dependents, even if you paid the surcharge before this date. Reimbursements will be paid in six-month increments and you will need to reapply after each six month period.
