Patient Panel on Safeguarding in the City of London

We held a Patient Panel on Safeguarding in the City of London.

We were joined by Dr Adi Cooper, Chair of City and Hackney Safeguarding Adults Board who explained what safeguarding is, how you can report issues and what the responsibilities are of the Safeguarding Board and the City of London Corporation.

Safeguarding is made up of measures that are used to protect individuals’ health and wellbeing and human rights, in order to live a life that is free from harm and abuse. Whilst safeguarding does apply to all members of our community, it specifically targets children and those who are elderly, as they are most vulnerable or susceptible to abuse in our community.

If you suspect that someone is at risk of neglect, exploitation, physical or sexual abuse, you should report your concerns.

Are you worried about an adult in the City of London? If it is an emergency call 999, if it is a non-emergency you call 020 8332 1224 or if it is out of hours 20283 562 300. You can also email adultsduty@cityoflondon.gov.uk

If you’re worried about a child, call 999 if it is an emergency. If it is a non-emergency you call 020 7332 3621 - 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday or you can call their out of office service 020 8356 2710 (this is only for emergencies). You can also email children.duty@cityoflondon.gov.uk
